Overview

ntopng is now fully integrated with flexiWAN and available through the flexiWAN App Store. This integration extends beyond local web server access, allowing centralized network flow monitoring and management via flexiManage. With this feature, users can view real-time and historical network traffic insights across multiple devices, enhancing visibility and control over network operations.

  • Active Flows View in Device Settings

    • Each device’s network activity can be accessed through: - Device Settings > Monitoring > Active Flows - Displays a pie chart summarizing the most used applications. - Provides an overview of network traffic trends and application distribution.

  • Detailed Active Flow Analysis

    • Analyze active network flows with: - Detailed source and destination information - Application types and their bandwidth usage - Comprehensive network activity breakdown based on ntopng’s analysis - Visibility into protocols, traffic patterns, and potential network anomalies

Installation and Setup

To install and configure ntopng in flexiWAN:

  1. Install ntopng from the flexiWAN App Store - Log into your flexiManage dashboard. - Navigate to App Store and locate ntopng. - Click Install and follow the setup instructions.

  2. Access ntopng in flexiManage - Once installed, navigate to:

    • Device Settings > Monitoring > ntopng

    • View network analytics and reports in real-time.

  3. Enable Data Collection - Ensure that flow monitoring is enabled on the device. - Configure necessary logging and analytics settings.

  4. Analyze Traffic Reports - Use ntopng dashboards to review:

    • Bandwidth usage

    • Top applications consuming network resources

    • Anomalous traffic patterns

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with ntopng integration:

  • Installation Issues - Ensure that your device meets the system requirements. - Check if the installation logs report any errors.

  • No Data Appearing - Confirm that flow monitoring is enabled in Device Settings. - Restart the ntopng service if needed.

  • Performance Lag - Optimize data retention settings. - Reduce polling intervals for better system performance.
